Need to cut down your wedding budget? Here’s how!

Working within a budget can be hard, and for those of us who have big dreams of how we want our wedding to look, having to say no to some things is not easy. But you can’t forget – actually working within a wedding budget lets you start off your married life on the right foot. You won’t be stressing over money or bills, and you’ll really be able to enjoy being newlyweds. When you do your best to keep costs low and work within a wedding budget, you’re setting yourself up for success! Not sure how to decrease your wedding budget to save you money? Here’s what you should focus on:

1. Reduce your guest list

This is by far the easiest and most effective way to reduce your budget, and it allows you to put a little more money towards other things, like décor and food. A 300 person wedding may be tons of fun, but it’s rare that the couples hosting these grand events actually know every guest. If you want to go this route, then we’d love to help you with that, but if you’re looking to save everywhere your can, consider reducing your guest list. Pair down your list to just people you know and really love, and you’ll see your budget and total spend drop!

2. Skip (most of) the stationary

Before you start thinking that this is impossible, hear us out! Save the dates? Can be done digitally! Invitations? Can be done digitally! RSVPs? DIGITALLY! For the stationary that’s used before your big day, all of it can be done digitally, and most of it should be. If you’re set on having physical invitations, we don’t blame you! But consider cutting out the other stationary like save the dates and rsvp cards! For day-of stationary, things like programs and menu cards get tossed out at the end of the night. While they add a really nice touch to the overall feel of the wedding, they’re a pretty insignificant part of it, and it’s something that can definitely be cut. If you’re looking to save some money, consider whether you really need all that stationary.

3. DIY as much as you can

There are so many things that go with a wedding that can be done on your own, or with the help of your friends and family, and a lot of it can be prepped before the wedding so that there’s no stress on your big day. Make your own favours, put together your own seating chart, and spruce up your own centrepieces! If you have the time to DIY, then this is a great way to save costs.

We’d love to help you plan your big day within your budget. We can work with packages we already have, or create a completely custom option for you so that you get the most value out of your money. After all, we want you to start off your married life happy and stress free!
