Celebrating the Holidays at Home

This year was difficult for all of us – from the uncertainty of the future, to the constantly changing plans. We’ve all had to keep adjusting to staying home and working from home. While this year was filled with hardships that none of us expected to face, it was also filled with many opportunities for growth. We’ve all learned how to be more flexible, be more patient, and find joy in the little things. We’re learning how to make the best of any situation.

These lessons are important to take with you when heading into the holidays. This winter, our celebrations will look a little different, whether that means less people around the Christmas dinner table, or you and your partner ringing in the New Year together from the comfort of your own couch, alone. We’ve all had to adjust or cancel our elaborate holiday plans in favour of quiet evenings at home with immediate family. Hosting an event at home with a guest list of only your immediate household can be difficult to adjust to, and can leave many of us feeling unmotivated and not excited to celebrate.

However, there is a bright side here that can’t be overlooked. Quiet holidays at home mean more room for connecting with your nearest and dearest, and spending quality time them. Instead of focusing on making your party perfect because you’re entertaining a ton of people, you can focus on enjoying yourself and reconnecting with your family. Take the opportunity to celebrate your holidays less formally, with a glass of wine in hand, and a Christmas movie on the screen. Play some board games with your family, have some dinner together, and really enjoy each other’s company. This is your opportunity to sit back and soak in their presence, and cherish the memories you’re making with them.

We miss you here at St. Joseph’s Banquet & Conference Centre! But we know that now is not yet the time to see each other. Celebrate your holidays at home, make new memories, and we will be so excited to welcome you back through our doors as soon as we’re able to do so. Until then, please stay safe and healthy.

Happy Holidays from our family to yours! We can’t wait to see you again!
