Advice for planning your event post-lockdown

We’ve been through some huge changes over the last year and a half with multiple lockdowns, stay-at-home orders, and ever-changing restrictions on events and gatherings. With some of us having endured losses of loved ones, and all of us having to adjust to a new normal, it has been almost two years of heavy and unprecedented change. But with restrictions easing and more milestones that deserve celebration, we’re so excited to see our banquet hall being filled with events again. Have you been waiting to plan your event? Do you have a celebration that needs to be marked? Are you ready to gather with your closest friends and family to celebrate? We’ve compiled a list of advice for you for planning your event post-lockdown based on the top concerns we’re seeing with our own clients. Check it out!

Book your event far in advance

Available event dates have become hard to come by – with postponements from the last year and a half, an influx of new milestones to celebrate, and capacity limits on venues in Halton Region and all over Ontario, our calendars are filling up quickly. Our best advice is to book your event as far in advance as possible. Did you just get engaged? Consider booking your wedding now for 2022/2023. The further out you book, the more likely we are to have the date you’d prefer. Inquire with your preferred venue ASAP!

Consider a weekday party

A Thursday night may not have been your preferred choice of date for a birthday party, but weekdays are generally more available than the most popular weekend dates. This is especially important if you’re looking to host your event soon – most venues have limited weekend dates available, so booking a weekday instead is a great idea for a post-lockdown event.

Be flexible with your guest list

You might want to invite your second cousin once removed, but you need to be prepared to work with a smaller-than-expected guest list to comply with current restrictions and possible future restrictions on event limits. We suggest working with a few different guest lists with varying guest counts so that you’re prepared for any scenario. Your extended family will understand!

Focus on quality, not quantity

If you have a budget for your event, consider working with a smaller guest list but ramping up your décor and food selection for a more elaborate event that works within your expected budget. This would allow you to be more likely to fall under allowed guest limits, and would create a more exciting event for your guests to attend. You deserve an unforgettable event!
