Why you should host your work event in-person instead of virtually

The last few years have seen a shift in workplace culture and standard work practices, and work events haven’t been immune. Work events like general meetings and holiday parties have had to be scaled down, moved online, or even canceled. But now that work events are ramping up again, businesses are faced with a decision: should they host their events virtually or in-person?

We vote for in-person! Here’s why we think you should opt for in-person work events instead of virtual ones.

In-person work events create a better guest experience

From a delicious catered dinner down to the right music and decor, the guests’ experience is infinitely better when at an in-person event. You can set the right mood with the right decisions, and have more control over the environment. Plus, in-person events give your guests a break from their screens!

In-person work events guarantee better participation

There’s no guarantee that a guest in an online event is paying attention. They might even have the event muted on their laptops as they catch up on their favourite shows, or while they do chores around the house. If you’re hoping for guests to interact with one another, collaborate, and really participate, then an in-person event is the way to go.

In-person work events are more memorable

If the last few years have taught the world anything, it’s that we need in-person connection and interaction to really thrive. While virtual meetings and events can still be memorable, it’s absolutely easier to create deeper memories together when you’re in person. This is why we love in-person events.

Work events are important in maintaining high employee morale and creating a fun & supportive company culture. This is best-achieved in person when possible. However, the push into virtual events over the last few years has opened up the opportunity for more people to “attend” than a regular venue would allow. This is why a hybrid event model may be your best avenue. By hosting your event in-person while recording it or conferencing guests in, you’ll be hosting an event that’s modern and inclusive, and absolutely memorable for all in attendance!

So our advice to you: host your event in-person, but don’t be afraid to expand into the virtual space by using today’s technology. It’s the best of both worlds!
