How to Find the Right Vendors for Your Wedding

From flowers and venue to menu and décor, there is a lot that goes into planning the wedding of your dreams. If you’re not in the market to hire a wedding planner than you will be directly dealing with hiring your own vendors but, not to worry. This is a great opportunity for you and your partner to get close and work together to plan your big day!

Here are a few tips to keep in mind while you search for the best flower arrangements, venue and caterers;

Do your research

With the social media boom in effect, it’s hard not to gravitate to the vendors with the best Instagram Feed. Be sure to research their entire online resume including Google and Facebook reviews, and possibly yelp. Ask family and friends who recently got married to share insights on their favourite vendors. Wedding blogs, magazines and even wedding shows in your local area are also great ways to look for great vendors that share your vision of your big day!

A great idea: DM those who have tagged your vendor in their wedding photos and ask for an honest recommendation!

Allocate your budget accordingly

What is most important to you? (i.e. Flowers, décor, venue, menu). Depending on the style of wedding you’re having, some aspects might amount to more than others. If you’re betrothed loves to cook and wants the menu to be one of the most memorable dishes for your guests, than you might be paying more for a gourmet catering vendor. Vendors sometimes offer packages that are inexpensive, just be sure that you’re getting everything that you’re looking for in a contract before you hire them.

A great idea: Decide on a ballpark budget and call local vendors for estimates to see how you can allocate your budget accordingly!

Follow your instincts

Working with vendors requires meetings, conversations, phone calls and lots of communication. You want to be sure that you’re getting value for your time and money. So, if you find that your florist is not responding, or the DJ is defensive about the type of music you should play at the reception, then maybe they aren’t the right vendor for you. This is your special day and you want to be sure that you’re working with people who communicate well and are genuinely excited to be a part of it!

Always trust your gut!
